One of the questions I get asked most often by guests is this: “We can’t ride scooters ourselves, but we still want to get around Ubud easily, reach the rice fields, and find those quiet yoga and meditation sessions tucked away in the middle of nowhere?”
My number-one answer is always the same: download the GoJet app and book a scooter with a rider.
The GoJet riders have scooter skills that can only be described as legendary. They know every shortcut, every quiet back path through the rice fields, and all the little “you must see this” spots that never appear on the usual tourist maps. That local knowledge turns a simple journey into lasting memories.
We’ve had groups book three or four riders for several days at a time. Each guest gets their own driver, and off they go on day trips to temples, waterfalls, hidden viewpoints, and those out-of-the-way yoga shalas surrounded by rice paddies. What surprises almost everyone is how much they end up loving the journey itself. In fact, most guests have told us that the time spent weaving through the countryside on the back of a GoJet scooter was often as exciting as, or sometimes more exciting than, the destination they were heading to.
There’s something special about scooting along narrow rice-field paths, the wind in your face, then stopping at a tiny warung that only the driver knows is excellent, and yes, their owner will most likely be a relative! These unplanned pauses for coffee, fresh coconut, or a plate of nasi campur become some of the trip's best moments. And yes, people usually come back with all manner of souvenirs too - scarves, carvings, spices, and of course lots of stories.
Have there been any accidents? No. But the near-miss stories do tend to grow larger and longer the more times they’re retold… which is half the fun.
In short, if you are up in Ubud by yourself or as part of a group and you cannot (or decide not to) ride a scooter yourself, book a GoJet.
You never know; one day we might have a Rhonda who meets their Ketut!!! Bali’s a bit like that!!
