Where to get Breakfast on JL. Bisma

Let’s get one thing straight right from the start: if you manage to go hungry or thirsty in Ubud, it’s entirely your own fault. This town is overflowing with excellent warungs, cafés and hotel restaurants. You could throw a stone in almost any direction and hit something delicious. On Jalan Bisma, you don’t even need to throw a stone; the good stuff is already within easy walking distance.

Guests keep mentioning the same three spots, so here they are.

First up is Honeymoon on Bisma. This is the “treat yourself properly” option. It’s a luxury hotel setting where breakfast is unhurried, the coffee is excellent, and nobody rushes you while you decide between the full spread and just one more pastry. Perfect for those mornings when you want to feel a bit spoilt.

Next is the long-time favourite, Sun de Bisma. You’ll find it as you head up Bisma, sitting opposite the rice fields and half-hidden behind vines. It’s the kind of place where you can linger over breakfast, watch the world (and the occasional scooter procession) go by, and still leave with change in your pocket. Budget-friendly without feeling basic.

And near the top of Bisma sits Pukako. This one gives you a choice: grab a table outside for full people-watching mode, or duck into the air-conditioned inside area when the tropical heat starts reminding you who’s boss. Either way, the coffee is strong, and the breakfast menu covers most preferences.

What these three have in common is good coffee (non-negotiable in our book) and a spread of breakfast options that work whether you’re watching your wallet or treating yourself. Between the luxury of Honeymoon, the relaxed vibe of Sun de Bisma, and the flexible setup at Pukako, you’ve got the morning covered.

So wander up Bisma, pick your spot, and enjoy. In Ubud, breakfast is less of a meal and more of a daily reminder that life is pretty good. Just don’t tell us you couldn’t find anywhere to eat, as we simply won’t believe you.
