Ubud’s Best Pizza: The Research That Expanded Our Waistlines

Many guests have asked where to find Ubud’s best pizza. Answering this question required more than a quick Google search. It demanded multiple dinners, strategic “research” evenings, and a willingness to put this blog first. Guests who stayed at Elephant Villas were cheerfully recruited into the mission to find Ubud's best pizza. We told them it was for the greater good, and surprisingly, most believed us! So thank you to all the guests who contributed purely so this post could exist.

After the dust (and the napkins) settled, one place kept coming out on top: Warung Citta Ovest Pizza & Pasta on Jalan Dewisita. It’s a small, no-frills spot with roughly seven tables and a menu that gets straight to the point. The team in the kitchen clearly has the pizza magic sorted: thin, properly blistered bases, cheese that melts the way it should, and toppings that are balanced rather than just piled on. You can taste that someone who loves pizza is running the oven. Prices stay sensible for Ubud, service is friendly, and the whole operation has the unpretentious feel of a place that’s been quietly getting this right for years. Arrive a little early if you want a table; it fills up for good reason. My personal favourite pizza is Ayamsambal Matah with extra chilli!

We have listed two other "highly recommended" options if Citta is full or you’re in a different part of the Village.

L’Osteria Pizza e Cucina on Jalan Monkey Forest is the go-to for people who want proper Neapolitan-style pizza. It uses long-fermented sourdough dough, a wood-fired oven, and ingredients that taste considered rather than just piled on. It’s busier and costs more, but the crust and overall experience is very good.

Pizza Bagus on Jalan Raya Pengosekan has been part of Ubud’s Italian scene since 1996. It’s the reliable, family-friendly choice with a garden setting and consistent wood-fired pizza, with the bonus of having a deli, so if you want to take home cheese or other bits to have while sitting by the pool, you can. Like most places, you can order online, and they do deliver. Some say their delivery drivers know exactly where the villa is!

In summary, Ubud has no shortage of pizza options, from more polished Neapolitan spots to long-running local favourites. Citta Ovest remains our go-to recommendation when someone asks where to go for a straightforward, tasty pizza without fuss. If you’re staying with us and feeling the call of melted cheese and a cold Bintang, we'd recommend starting there, and maybe leave a little room for an ice cream on the way back to the villa

So thanks to our guests for researching the best pizza places in Ubud, so you don’t have to. Your waistline can thank us later. Or not. We won’t judge.

If you are staying with us and find a "You must try out this pizza place", please let us know, and we will gladly try it out (In the name of research!) and add it to the list.
